Bluetooth tracking
Regarding one of our former class discussions regarding bluetooth tracking, I’m noticing more stories about law enforcement using bluetooth to track people. Most of these stories are comming out of London. Though some of the stories are short, most of them seem to be on the cautious side. England itself is one of the most video monitored societies in the world, and ‘big brother’ is looking for all the help it can get to monitor all of its citizens. Personally, it is kind of creepy when a socitey goes as far as to monitor all of its people by camera, but now with bluetooth, Londoners are going to be giving away intimate details about who they are and the places they’ve been as technology becomes better suited for the government to look at all of its citizens.
Speaking of London and weird society of big brother types…I just heard from a colleague who is also going to London on a study abroad in the same department as me that in England they have a fee for watching tv. If you own a tv and watch it you must pay some 50 Pound p/year fee for this privilege or something like it. The way they catch you is that they have a device that scans the outside of your home for signals that the tv produces. If you are caught watching tv and have not paid your fee then the fine is really steep!
That’s one way to get people to quit watching so much tv!

I hope bluetooth tracking doesn’t get Patriot Act-ed into America. For that matter, I also hope they don’t start charging us for tv.
If they put bluetooth on your tv, they could find out where you are when you watch stuff, as well as what you watch. Then we could transmit ads and art projects onto people’s televisions.
