As news breaks along the relay route, points are updated on the map so you can follow it in very close to live time. Sofar many people have begun lining the route awaiting the torch.
I found this interesting, although it may not be art, it is locative…
I watched this event on the news as it happened, but getting a chance to reference back to this in a medium I am familiar with is nice as well.
The play by play on the news was sort of a “Where’s Waldo/OJ Simpson car chase” event. Nothing like the celebratory or ceremonious torch relay that the world has come to know and love. I’m not sure why we had to do it so differently, but I think hiding away from protesters is not the solution, it only makes matters worse.

I watched the news about the protesters against the olympic torch, a map like this, though useful for spectators, will give protesters a chance to line up and boo the runners.
Yeah, the situation in China is jacked up, but the torch symbolizes the abilbity of man to endure, and the map just gives the chance for protesters to take away that symbol of the human spirit.
